Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our priority. Here's how we protect your data.

Our promise

At Recovery Journal, we take your privacy seriously. Your personal reflections are encrypted so that only you can read them. We cannot access your journal entries — ever.

1. Data Collection

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our services:

  • Email address (for authentication)
  • Encrypted personal reflections and journal entries
  • Sobriety date (if you choose to provide it)
  • Anonymous usage data to improve the app

2. Data Security

Your data is protected using industry-leading encryption:

  • All personal reflections are encrypted client-side before storage
  • Your encryption key never leaves your device
  • We use AES-GCM encryption for all sensitive data
  • Data is transmitted securely using HTTPS

3. Data Usage

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Provide the core functionality of Recovery Journal
  • Improve our services and user experience
  • Generate anonymous, aggregated statistics

4. Data Sharing

We never share your personal information with third parties. Your data remains private and encrypted at all times. The only exception is if you explicitly choose to share entries via Sponsor Review mode.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request data deletion
  • Export your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time

6. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the Privacy Settings.
